Beat-Pulse Rhythm/VR

Beat-Pulse Rhythm (A.K.A BP-Rhythm) is a Virtual Reality Rhythm game for the Meta Quest 2/3s/3 with plans for a PCVR version as well. 

The current status of BP-Rhythm is what I would consider a fully playable/enjoyable prototype/proof of concept rhythm game that uses MIDI data to place the beats on the audio timeline. The MIDI timing and haptic feedback provided by the Quest controllers as well as the bHaptics TactSuit (if used), creates a rhythm game experience where you feel the music as you play. The haptics become another instrument, that you play.

BP-Rhythm requires quick reflexes, great depth perception, ambidexterity and pattern recognition to play, especially on the higher levels. There is a bit of a learning curve while you develop skill. You will not need to swing your arms. You're movements will be some swaying of your arms and some wrist movements. You can play BP-Rhythm sitting down if you like.

The beat mapping is currently emitting beats in a random pattern based on a seed value (which you can change), so the same pattern can be repeated each time you play a song. This allows you to "learn" the song just as you would if there was a custom "beat map". You can also change the seed if you would like to try a different pattern. Custom beat map tools/workflows are a work in progress and will be added to allow player generated content and create better movement "flow". 

I'm making this available for the gaming community to play as I feel that BP-Rhythm is in a state that can and will be enjoyed by all gamers that enjoy rhythm based games. My primary motivation in developing BP-Rhythm has been mainly to build a game that I enjoy playing and I feel that at this point you guys will as well. BP-Rhythm is far from being complete at this point, however, with your input and support, I hope to make BP-Rhythm a living breathing constantly evolving rhythm game experience that allows us to feel and play the music we love.

The first file: oterogames-beatpulserhythm-demoV1.apk is a one playlist, 20 song demo, with 2 environments and can be downloaded for free.

The second file: oterogames-beatpulserhythm-exdemo.apk is an extended demo with two more 20 song playlists and 3 more environments added, for a total of 60 songs, 5 environments, and is priced at $2.99 to help with development.

A Patreon site has also been established for those that would like to take a more active role in the support and development of BP-Rhythm. This will give you access to a third file that will be updated on a regular basis as development progresses.
